Dental Implants

At Brown & Fortner Dental Group, we believe your smile should look and feel complete. Dental implants are a modern, reliable way to replace missing teeth and restore full function. Have you lost one tooth or several? If so, dental implants can help you chew comfortably, speak clearly, and smile with confidence again.

What Is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a small titanium post that’s surgically placed into the jawbone to act as an artificial tooth root. Once the dental implant bonds with your bone through osseointegration, it becomes a stable foundation for a custom-made crown, bridge, or denture. Dental implants look, feel, and function like natural teeth, making them the gold standard for tooth replacement.

We offer:

  • Single-Tooth Implants — Replace one missing tooth with a single, custom-made dental implant and crown.
  • All-on-X Implants — Replace an entire arch of missing teeth with four strategically placed dental implants.
  • Implant Overdentures — This type of denture snaps securely onto dental implants for improved stability and comfort.

Benefits of Dental Implants

Dental implants can drastically improve your oral health and function, while enhancing your overall appearance and quality of life. Here are some of the reasons why our dentists and our patients love dental implants.
Natural Look and Feel
Dental implants mimic your natural teeth in both appearance and function. We design them to blend in seamlessly with your smile so no one will ever be able to tell they're not your natural teeth.
Long-Lasting Solution
With proper care, dental implants can last decades or even a lifetime. Your dentist can speak with you about when to replace dental restorations like crowns or dentures on top of the implants.
Jawbone Preservation
Tooth loss can lead to a more sunken in facial appearance and jawbone resorption. However, dental implants stimulate bone and prevent bone loss that can occur with missing teeth.
Improved Comfort
Unlike traditional dentures that rely on suction or adhesives to stay in place, dental implants are secured and anchored to the jawbone. They actually even fuse with the jawbone, ensuring the utmost stability. So, no more slipping or shifting!
Better Function
Dental implants stay secure and stable in the mouth, which leads to better function. With dental implants, you can enjoy all your favorite foods, brush and floss like usual, and enjoy your smile as if it were completely natural.

What to Expect: Treatment and Recovery

Consultation and Planning

Your journey begins with a thorough exam and imaging to assess your oral health and determine the best treatment plan.

Dental Implant Placement

We surgically place the implant post into the jawbone under local anaesthesia. Many patients find this stage more comfortable than expected.

Healing and Integration

Over the next 6 months, the implant fuses with your bone. Temporary teeth may be placed so you can smile and eat with ease during healing.

Restoration

Once healing is complete, we attach an abutment and your final restoration custom-designed to blend seamlessly with your natural teeth.

Recovery

Mild swelling, tenderness, and minor bleeding are normal for a few days. Most patients return to work within a day or two. Following our aftercare instructions will help ensure smooth healing.

Dental Implants Technology

CBCT Cone Beam Technology

CBCT cone beam technology produces a 3-D scan of your teeth and jaws. This scanner captures incredibly detailed, 360-degree images to help us plan treatments with pinpoint precision. From dental implant work to All-on-X to root canals, it helps us see the full picture.

How CBCT Technology Helps

  • Dental Implants — Maps bone structure for precise implant placement and avoids nerves or sinuses
  • Impacted Teeth and Wisdom Teeth — Identifies tooth position and proximity to vital structures for safe extraction planning
  • TMJ Disorders — Provides clear imaging of the jaw joint to support accurate diagnosis and treatment
  • Airway and Sleep Apnea Evaluations — Assesses airway anatomy to help diagnose obstructions or sleep-related breathing issues
  • Orthodontic Planning— Offers a detailed 3-D view of teeth, roots, and jaw alignment for personalized treatment plans
  • Endodontic (Root Canal) Treatment — Reveals hidden canals, fractures, or root irregularities not visible on traditional x-rays
  • Pathology Detection — Helps identify cysts, tumors, lesions, or sinus abnormalities
  • Bone Grafting — Evaluates bone quality and structure before surgical procedures

Are Dental Implants Right for You?

Most healthy adults are good candidates for dental implants, especially if they have sufficient bone to support the post. Even if you’ve been missing teeth for some time, bone grafting procedures can help make implants possible. Fortunately, our dentists perform bone grafting surgery right here in our dental office.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dental implants are often considered the gold standard in tooth replacement, and for good reason. Unlike dentures or bridges, dental implants are designed to replace the entire tooth structure, including the root. That means better stability, greater comfort, and improved long-term health for your jawbone and surrounding teeth.

Here’s how they compare:

  • Dental Implants — We surgically place titanium posts that act as artificial tooth roots. They integrate with your jawbone and prevent bone loss and offer unmatched strength. Topped with lifelike crowns, they look and feel just like natural teeth.
  • Dental Bridges — A good option when neighboring teeth are healthy enough to support the restoration. However, dental bridges may require the shaping of natural teeth for crowns to fit and hold the bridge in place. Also, bridges don’t protect the underlying bone from deterioration like dental implants do.
  • Full Dentures — Full dentures are affordable and removable. They restore function and appearance, but they may slip, require adhesives, and need frequent adjustments.
